PASTOR SCOTT BERGEMANN

OUTREACH & SPECIAL MINISTRIES PASTOR

Pastor Scott Bergemann grew up next to the State Fair in West Allis, Wis., and attended Good Shepherd’s Lutheran Church and School there. There the Word of God inspired him to consider serving the full time public ministry. He graduated from Martin Luther College, New Ulm, Minn., in 2003 and Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary, Mequon, Wis., in 2007. That same year he began serving as pastor at Mt. Zion, Kenosha.

 

He is very thankful to have met his wife, Amanda, in Kenosha. They did teen ministry together for many years as good friends. The teens knew about it before they did, and they were married in 2013. They have been blessed with three beautiful children. Pastor Bergemann enjoys spending time with his family and also likes the Brewers, Packers, bowling, golfing, pizza, and running. He also enjoys playing guitar with the congregation’s musical group.

PASTOR MICHAEL GORTE

LEAD PASTOR, NEW LIFE EAST

Pastor Michael Gorte grew up on a farm in Newtonburg, Wis. He graduated from Manitowoc Lutheran High School in 1992, Martin Luther College, New Ulm, Minn., in 1996, and Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary, Mequon, Wis., in 2000. While at the seminary, Pastor Gorte met his wife, Rebecca.  They were married in 2001.  Rebecca teaches at Kenosha Lutheran Academy, and together they have three daughters, Alyssa, Rachel, and Hannah.

Pastor Gorte served congregations in Akaska and Mound City, S. Dak., and Gibbon, Minn., before moving to Kenosha in 2014 to serve Friedens Lutheran Church. He has served at New Life since 2021.  

Pastor Gorte considers himself a baseball fan. He enjoys spending time with his family, light reading, and watching the Milwaukee Brewers and Kenosha Kingfish.

PASTOR STEVEN NEUMANN

LEAD PASTOR, NEW LIFE CENTRAL

Pastor Steve Neumann was born and raised in Beaver Dam, Wis. After graduating in May 1996 from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in Mequon, Wis., he was assigned to serve in Springville, N.Y. In 2006, he accepted a call to serve at Mt. Zion, Kenosha. He has also served as the circuit pastor (area pastoral supervisor) since 2013. His service at New Life began in 2021.

 

He is married to Nichole, and together they have three children. He and his family love playing cards (especially Sheepshead!) and games together, as well as traveling. They are blessed to have visited all 48 contiguous states in their lifetimes! Pastor Neumann has played tennis his whole life and enjoys most sports, especially Brewers baseball. He’s also an American history buff, especially Civil War history.

PASTOR DAVE PAGEL

LEAD PASTOR, NEW LIFE SOMERS

Pastor Dave Pagel cut his teeth in ministry as a missionary in Portland, Ore., after graduating from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in 1996. He brought his passion for connecting with the unchurched to Kenosha, where he served as an intern (vicar) at Bethany in 1995, before returning to serve as pastor in 2002. His three grown children, Hannah (Witkofski, married to J.K.), Elle, and Joey all graduated from Bethany Lutheran and were well-equipped for AP classes in high school and college. He enjoys fishing, running, basketball, and CrossFit.

MS. LENA PETERMANN

MINISTER OF MUSIC

Lena has been involved in church music since she started playing piano for Lent services at 14 years old. Even before that, she would be the first one out of the pew and immediately would head to the organ to watch the organist play. After attending high school at Michigan Lutheran Seminary and completing her undergrad at Martin Luther College, she graduated with a double major in Elementary Education and K-12 Choral Music in 2017. Lena is currently working on a Masters of Choral Music Education from the Vandercook College of Music in Chicago.


Lena has served as emergency teacher for grades 5-8 at Zion Lutheran School in Egg Harbor, Wis., in 2015, and as teacher for grades 1-2 at Bethany Lutheran School in Kenosha from 2017-2021. She accepted the call to serve as the New Life Minister of Music and KLA Music Teacher in 2021. Lena has been blessed to be deeply involved in music and worship in Kenosha and is excited to put more time and energy into creating a great music program at KLA and an excellent worship experience at New Life.

PASTOR PETER PRANGE

SCHOOL PASTOR, KENOSHA LUTHERAN ACADEMY

Pastor Peter M. Prange graduated with a Master of Divinity degree from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary, Mequon, Wis., in 1998. Since then he has served congregations in Jacksonville, Fla., Morton Grove, Ill., Johnson City, Tenn., and Kenosha. While serving in Jacksonville, he met his wife, Tarren, where they were married in 2003. The Pranges have two children.
 

Pastor Prange enjoys time with family, theological reading, all kinds of music, and cheering his beloved Chicago Cubs. His special interest is family and church history, especially the history of the Lutheran Church and Wisconsin Synod, and he has authored a number of essays and books on the subject. Besides his parish service, Pastor Prange also served the synod as a circuit pastor, a member of the Commission on Inter-Church Relations (CICR), and on the committee that produced Christian Worship: Supplement.

LEAD PASTOR, REACH MINISTRIES

Pastor Russ was born and raised in Austin, Texas. He graduated from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in 2018 and has been serving in the Kenosha/Racine area since. He is lead pastor at Reach and loves dreaming with others what new things can be done for God's Kingdom. He is married to Amber Scoggins and together they have one daughter. Pastor Russ enjoys being outside in beautiful weather, roasting coffee, cooking, and being with people.
